Setting up account security

Essential security features

Protect your Bitnob account with these security features:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA): Required for all transactions
  • Email notifications: Get alerted for all account activity
  • Device management: Control which devices can access your account
  • Transaction PIN: Additional verification for payments
  • Withdrawal whitelist: Restrict withdrawals to approved addresses

How to enable 2FA

Two-factor authentication is your strongest defense:

  1. Go to Settings > Security
  2. Click "Enable 2FA"
  3. Choose between authenticator app or SMS
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  5. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm
  6. Save your backup codes in a secure place

Recommended apps: Google Authenticator, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator

Security best practices

Follow these tips to keep your account secure:

  • Never share your password or 2FA codes with anyone
  • Use a unique, strong password (at least 12 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols)
  • Enable email notifications for all account changes
  • Regularly review your active sessions and logout unused devices
  • Be cautious of phishing emails claiming to be from Bitnob
  • Always verify you're on the official Bitnob website (https://bitnob.com)
